Another artist that i have found out is Dr. Cheng Haw Chien.

He was born in Penang 1948.

Graduated from Taiwan.

Has held many solo art exhibition be it locally and internationally which cover Singapore, London, Jakarta, Beijing.

Dr. Cheng has held many positions in different art association. As a chairman, president and many more.

Biography can be seen in this link: http://www.chenghawchien.com/#/custom/2

Dr Cheng's painting are very contemporary and fresh. Unlike the typical Chinese painting, he uses vibrant color especially for the landscape painting. It creates dynamic, energetic and intense feeling.

Dr. Cheng has never restricting himself by just painting the typical subject in Chinese Painting. He explored several possible subjects and he even implemented some western culture in it. He painted subject like kangaroo, penguins, ostrich, which are something that is not what we usually see in a Chines painting. Dr. Cheng also fully utilized his talent in Chinese painting in capturing the local scene or subjects. It is definitely surprising to see that this artist painted subject like mangosteen, rambutan and durian. This reflects that Dr. Cheng is adventurous, he did not allow himself being binded to the typical traditional Chinese Painting. He took the courage in trying out many possibilities to being able to implement his background as a Malaysian in his art. He did it marvelously. I personally think he is awesome because he is able to capture something that is locally without letting the Chinese painting overpowered the subject but at the same time retain the essence of the local subject.
