Mr. Chong Buck Tee actually introduce this artist to me.
One unique thing about this artist is that he does not use chinese brush to paint Chinese painting but instead he uses fingers and palms. He actually explored this technique with his friends last time and he eventually he love it.
He said that the result of using fingers and palms in painting actually not much different with the typical chinese painting. The only different is that the process is tedious as the hand cannot absorb the color like the brush does. Throughout the painting process, Mr. Xie actually came out with many new techniques. Using the finger to draw the line, the palm to spread bigger area of color on the rice paper.
Mr. Xie wanted to expose this art to the public, to allow more and more people to get to know this technique. However, it did not receive good response because most of the students think that it will make their hand dirty. He also mentioned that it is better for one to actually know the basic technique of Chinese painting before one actually started exploring this new technique.
